I'm proud to be a Canadian!

I am enjoying wearing my Olympic mittens (Thanks to 'Santa Diane') I met some Canadians in Rothenburg because of these.
People get our names mixed up now and then but I think these name tags for the conference in Rothenburg were about as bad as it can get!

Sinsheim Museum

We have driven by the Sinsheim Auto and Technik Museum lots of times since coming to Germany. Yesterday, I told Jesse it was time to stop and visit this place instead of always saying...'next time'. Jesse really enjoyed walking through and seeing the interesting displays.

Rothenburg Part 3...the wall

A few more pictures from around town before we go to the wall.
The Criminal museum is an interesting display of forms of punishment in the olden days. Sure would make you think twice before stealing, arguing or being dishonest! o
This little house is built very crooked...I looked for the crooked man who lives here but couldn't find him...Ha!

Interesting sights everywhere you look!

I had the opportunity to walk around the city on the wall today. What a beautiful day! The following are views from there. This is an old attic entrance.

This window is a lot smaller than it looks in this picture. It is only about 3" square!

As you walk along the wall, there are plaques with names of people who have given funds to help preserve the wall. Don't know these people but they are from close to home!!

This house is built to fit!
'Schneeballen'(snowballs)tempting to look at but a little disappointing when you bite into them, I think! They are strips of unsweetened dough formed together into a ball, deep fried and then dipped in choc, caramel frosting, cinnamon and sugar, or powdered sugar. If the coating would go all the way through they might be better?? However, this is just my opinion...others sure seemed to be enjoying them. They are in all the bakeries.

Fun in Rothenburg...Part 2

The following are pictures from around the town! I loved this spring arrangement on a window sill...even though it is a cool, cloudy day! It sure brightened my day!

One of the towers and the wall from the inside of the city. You can walk around the city on this wall. Great views!

Part of the wall on the outside of the city.

One of the gates to the city.
Here are some pictures of the outside of our 'castle' hotel. These steps go down to the hotel from the city.

Fun in Rothenburg

About a month ago, Jesse came home one day and asked me if I would like to go to Rothenburg. What a question!! Rothenburg is a German city with ancient stone walls, several large gates and lots of history. It is also home to famous year round Christmas shops with thousands of ornaments and Christmas things! Anyway, here we are...Jesse is attending(and really enjoying) a conference for Christian conference center maintenance workers and I am enjoying a bit of down time.

View looking out our windows.

The ceilings are high! Jesse thinks more than 10 ', perhaps 12'. Love this molding in the center of the ceiling in our room!
This is the pipe organ in the chapel. It is small but mighty!!

I love stain glass windows and so was delighted to find these stain glass windows in several places in our 'castle' like hotel!
