A visit to Sonne dorm

Today we got to go back to the dorm we lived in for 8 years when we were dorm parents. When we lived there it was a girls dorm but now it is a home for 20 plus boys. Jesse and I went there to BBQ ribs for them for the "Senior Appreciation" day.
While the grill was heating up, I walked around and took a few pictures, most of which follow in the two posts below. Not sure what happened here but this guitar was apparently no longer needed and was discarded by the owner.
Micheal and several others visited with us while we BBQ'ed. Micheal was carving out a sword while we chatted.
Today we BBQed 75 lbs of ribs for the guys that live here. We really enjoy doing it for the kids as we know it is a real treat. (We did it for HBR, another guys dorm, last weekend).

Do you think he enjoyed them?

Here and there...

The view is still so awesome!

The creek where many birthdays were celebrated (and still are). The water is really low...not sure why.

The Sonne yard

It is as beautiful as ever. Lots of memories here! I looked for the donkeys and sheep(they are still living and annoying everyone!) but was told they were up in the summer pastures in the hills.

One of the trees in the middle of the yard lost a huge branch this past winter.

A walk through our neighborhood...

Today is such a beautiful day. I could not resist a walk through our town. This is the name of the village where we live.

Soon to be red currants.

Our neighbor's pride and joy! They have worked hard to get it to look like this.

The fountain in the cemetery.
The graves are so lovingly taken care of.

The cherries are almost ready!

102 steps...halfway up the hill to the street we live on.

Summer is here!

Very warm days have really encouraged the roses to burst forth in their glory! They are so beautiful!

Meanwhile back at home...

More from Adelboden

A few pictures from driving home...
This house had 34 window boxes, most of them like the picture above!
Cows in the meadow and Swiss chalets on the hillside...I absolutely love it!

One of my favorite walks in Adelboden is along the river. We took this walk before we drove back to Kandern.
Which way to go?
Jesse taking advantage of the fitness stops along the way. Doesn't he look impressive?

This little pine tree was growing right out of a solid rock wall. I hope he makes it!

Flowers along the way.

A walking bridge that crosses the river.

This old bridge looked so neat, nestled along the river. It was hard to get a good picture because of all the trees.
Jesse enjoying the toys and dreaming...
