When we first came to Germany and for quite a few years after that, pumpkins were really hard to find. Well, not anymore! I always look forward to this time of the year to see what they are going to come up with for their displays. Interestingly, the local folk do not bake pies/cakes/sweet stuff with pumpkins like we do. One of the most popular things is pumpkin soup. We have had it with a touch of ginger or curry. Both are wonderful! I think they may also eat it more like squash.

Once you pick your pumpkin you take to this clever little rig, see where it fits, take note of the price according to the circle size and....

then drop your money in this cash box.

Stephanie and I just went to this Blumen field yesterday and we were checking out the pumpkin measuring device. Quite ingenious. I'll think we'll be back to that field sometime soon.
