Sunday afternoon drive and walk

This restored castle/palace is 3-4 miles from our house. (as the crow flies) We drove through a beautiful valley and forest to get there on Sunday and then hiked around the grounds.

Rick and Lavina Kroeker are visiting us from Winnipeg, Canada area. We had a fun day together. This is on the castle wall.

Interesting place for a flower pot way up there on the edge of the wall!

Beautiful wildflowers along the pathway.

Lizards sunning themselves on the moat wall around the castle.

First rose of summer?

Hochblauen is one of the highest points in our area. Jesse likes to hike the trail to this tower as often as he can. It is a hard hike uphill all the way! This is taken from the castle wall, which is about the half-way point in the hike from our house. It looks a lot closer than it really is.

A castle ruins seen from the palace wall. This is about 5 miles from our house and tucked in the Black Forest.
