BFA 20 year reunion

This past weekend was one of the best weekends we have ever had here at BFA. The class of 1988 had a reunion right back here at BFA. It turned out to be more than their class as the classes of '86, '87, '89 and '90 joined them making a total of a little over 100 people, including families. The 4 girls below were in our dorm and graduated in 1988. Below they are with their families!! What joy it was to hear their stories of how God is using them in all sorts of ministries! There was lots of laughing, sharing, tears of happiness and at the end tears of sadness as the weekend came to an end. I will try to add more pictures later but I have a team of 13 coming tomorrow and have a few things to do! Duh!

No kidding!

Several months ago we were asked if we knew the man who 'walks his pig.' At first we thought it was joke until we actually saw it for ourselves. Of course, we didn't have the camera. Sunday we were coming home from church and there he was. Jesse asked if he could take a picture...SO at last we have captured the moment we have been waiting for. The friendly?? pig lives two doors from us, right in a residential area and is lovingly cared for by the man in the background. You just never know...!

A day in France!

We live about 18 km's from the border to France. Our friends Ken and Marilyn (Texas) are visiting us for 2 weeks. This past Saturday we spent the day visiting some quaint little villages about 1 hour from our house. We enjoyed being together, looking at the sights and flowers.

Can you tell Jesse misses the farm?

Anyone for a pretzel?

This sun dial still works!

Random pictures of ...

We woke up to this beautiful rainbow one morning this week. We took this right out our back door.

Jesse and I were returning from taking friends to the airport when we had to stop for a red light on this busy road through a town. I could hear chickens but could not see them anywhere. All of a sudden I looked up and there they were in the second story window of this house/barn building. (The windows could use a cleaning!) The cows were below in the barn.

Some kind of strange tractor thing along the way.

Old but still being used!

Ice cream anyone?

Jesse having Italian Mocca ice cream for Sharla!

Going to Togo

One of the joys that we get to experience is seeing couples like Allan and Kathy step out into full time ministry. They both graduated from BFA about six years ago, got their schooling, married and now are on their way to Togo.

They were commissioned by friends who knew them as students and they are supported by BFCF which is the church we attend here in Germany.

Chiara again...

I think this is a look of contentment but I'm not sure...

Sharla said they were playing 'dress-up'.

There's a little smile!

Another rainy day!

My petunias are getting too much rain so I am trying to protect them a bit! Another good use for an umbrella!

A little about what I do.

This is little Danelle. She was born on May 16 and since her birth by emergency c-section, her mother has been through so much. Mom lost a lot of blood which made her weak and led to infections, pneumonia and so forth. Dad has taken great care of baby, even keeping her at night so mom could get maximum rest in the hospital.

Today, about 3 weeks later, mom is finally able to come home from the hospital...but before she gets home two friends are coming with me to clean the apartment and make it welcoming for the homecoming!! Being relief staff gives me the opportunity to step in when others are busy doing other things. In the days to come I hope to be able to help out with the baby and make a meal or two.

Graduation 2008

73 students graduated from BFA on June 6, 2008. What an amazing group of kids all gifted and talented in many areas. BFA will not be the same without them!

The ceremony closed with the class singing 'All for Jesus'. It was very special!

Great friends!

This and that...with Spencer and Michelle.

We have been so blessed to have Spencer and Michelle visit us! We have loved showing Michelle some of the fun places in our area. Spencer lived here for a couple of years with his parents so he has enjoyed showing Michelle some memories as well.

Some of the kids Spencer and his family lived with when his folks were dorm parents.

Ice cream at the famous Italian ice place in Kandern.

A visit to the storks.
