This was the theme for last night and tonight's performance of Candlelight Dinner. On Friday night 360 people attended with more expected for tonight (Sat.)
When they arrived they were greeted by these happy people.
The cloak room attendants, smiling and beautiful!
Waitresses for the evening...there were a lot of them as you can imagine!
The buffet which consists of several different kinds of salads, meat and potatoes. The salads are prepared by the ladies of the community and the potatoes/meat are prepared by the cook who runs the central kitchen.
This year, the 14th Candlelight Dinner theme is “Sing Freedom” telling the story of the slaves’ journey to freedom, based on the writings of Harriet Tubman and paralleling our journey to freedom through Jesus Christ.
Note: Harriet Tuman was a slave in the 1800's. You can read about her by going to
www.Harriet Tubman.com
This lady did a wonderful job of reading portions of Harriet Tubman's writings.
The choir started out with this group and ended up with over 140 voices pulled from the community, three churches and Black Forest Academy to form an inspiring and powerful Gospel Choir.
So any people do so much work behind the scenes to make these two evenings a success.
Dinner is no sooner served and this van pulls into the driveway bringing the dessert for the evening.
This guy is amazing...for 14 years his bakery has provided the dessert for both evenings for free, his donation to the evening!

What could be prettier on an overcast day? Everything was clouded over and then all of a sudden there it was...snow covered Hochblauen, the highest hill in our area! It broke through the clouds with the sun shining on it! Click on the picture to see it a little better! It was so much nicer than the picture shows.

Kindertag
Every year around this time, Janz Team does a Kindertag (children's day) for the children in this area. It is almost the end of 'carnival'(Fasching) season so this day is used as a tool to reach out to the kids. Today there were around 250 children registered.
As I was walking in I saw this sign in the back window of a mini-van...it says 'Mama's taxi...free rides day and night, 7 days a week around the clock.'
Many pairs of boots and lots of coats!
The kids have a great time singing, listening to stories, short messages and an afternoon of very fun games. They are divided into teams when they come and all day points are totaled. At the end of the day, all is tallied and the winning teams are announced! (Everyone goes home with a prize)
Meanwhile, back in the kitchen, the noon meal of hot dogs and french fries is being prepared to feed the hungry group.
