Shawn was using the vacuum to vacuum the walls after sanding and before mudding. It gets all the dust off so the mud goes on easier. Anyway, he was going along pulling the hose to keep the vacuum behind him. He doesn't know for how long, but for quite some time, Shawn was vacuuming the walls with the hose disconnected from the machine. Plus the vacuum wasn't anywhere near him any longer and of course having no effect on the work he thought he was doing.
Then there was another time when he was vacuuming and had forgot to turn the power on. The contractors had their compressor going and things were loud and Shawn just assumed the vacuum was running. He even thought to himself that it wasn't a very good vacuum.
Based on this evidence, I would think that Shawn has not spent a lot of time driving the vacuum in his house. It was a good experience for him and ten minutes of tearful laughing for the rest of us.
